Result cards and fixture cards

Every match has a picture made for it: a fixture card before kickoff and a result card after the final whistle, both sized for a WhatsApp Status, Instagram or Facebook. Tap the card's button in the share card on the match page to make one, then save it or share it.

Why a card

A picture for the feed

A match link is the best thing to send a group chat: it is live, and it opens the whole match. But a WhatsApp Status, an Instagram story or a Facebook post does little with a bare link. A card is the same match as a picture, and it carries the match address so anybody who sees it can find the page.

From the share card

Make one

  1. Open the match page

The scorer's page and the viewer's page both have it, in the share card.

  2. Tap the card button

Before kickoff it reads Fixture card. Once the match has started it reads Result card.

  3. Share or save it

Share it straight to an app, or save it and post it later.

Why it works this way

Why can a viewer make one too? A card shows nothing that is not already on the public match page, and the person who most wants to post the result is often not the one who scored it.

Nothing to design

What it shows

The card is painted in both teams' colours, with each name set big and the people who did it under their team: who scored and when, or the top score and the best spell, with a medal for a brace or a fifty. A sticker describes the game from its own events, a comeback or a chase, without ever gloating over the side that lost. A fixture card prints the kickoff and the ground when the scorer has set them. There is no template to pick and nothing to type.

Pick Post for an Instagram or Facebook feed, Square for anywhere that crops to a square, and Story for a story or a WhatsApp Status. Add a photo and it fills the card, with each team's colour as a bar under its name. Choose Per team to give each team a photo in its own half instead; adding just your own team's is fine, and the other half keeps its colour. On a club match with team photos in its memories, each half starts with that team's latest one. Drag the preview to move a photo inside its area, and pinch to zoom.

For a video instead of a picture, make a reel from the same share card.

Need to know

Questions people ask

About result and fixture cards.

Why a picture as well as a link?

A link on its own goes nowhere in a Status or a story. A picture is how a result travels there, and it carries the match address so people can still find the live page.

When is it a fixture card and when a result card?

Before kickoff the button makes a fixture card that announces the game. Once the match has started it makes a result card instead.

Do I need an account?

No. Anybody with the match link can make the card, scorer or viewer.

Can I change how it looks?

The card wears both teams’ colours and describes the game from its own events, so there is nothing to design.
