Announce a match: time, place and a link people can find
Add a kickoff time and a ground under Time and place, on the last step of creating the match or on the scorer's Settings tab later. The match page then shows when and where in place of a clock, and link previews in the group chat say it is upcoming.
In short

Add a time and a place
When you create the match
On Create match, the last step is Time and place. It is folded away, because most matches are created at the ground with the game about to start. Open it to add a kickoff time and the ground's name.
Or later, on the scoring page
Open Settings and tap Add on the Time and place card. Change it as often as you need to before the game.
Send the link early
Share it in the group days ahead. The page shows when and where in place of a clock, and the link preview says the match is upcoming.
What an announcement changes
An announced match tells everybody in the group chat when and where before they open the link: the preview says it is upcoming, and the page shows the time and the ground in place of a clock. Search engines are shown results rather than fixtures, so it is the finished match, kept by a club, that people find.
Why it works this way
Why does the match not start at the kickoff time? Because a match that started itself would publish a live score nobody is keeping. The kickoff time is what was announced; the match starts when the scorer taps Start, and a late kickoff never rewrites the announcement.
A ground, not an address. The name of the ground is what people read. A map pin is optional and is rounded to about 110 metres, on your phone and again on our server. Plenty of these games are played in a garden, and a public page should never point at somebody's house.
Questions people ask
About announce a match.
Does the match start by itself at the kickoff time?
No. Nothing starts on its own. The kickoff time is what was announced, and the match starts when the scorer taps Start, so a late kickoff never rewrites the announcement.
Do I have to add a time and a place?
No. Both are optional, and most matches are created on the touchline without either. The step is folded away until you open it.
How exact is the location?
The ground's name is what people read. A map pin is optional, and it is rounded to about 110 metres on your phone and again on our server, which is enough to find the pitch and not enough to point at a house.
Will the match show up in search?
Not as a fixture. What search engines are shown is the result: a finished match kept by a club, with its line-up and ground, listed on the club page. An announced club fixture appears in the club page’s fixture list.
